One window, opened from an email, a T2, a GST/HST return, a T1, a payroll filing, a walk-in, or a bookkeeping row. The discussion about a piece of work lives on that piece of work, not in a chat app where nobody can find it in August. And the same window talks to the client, so their answer comes back into the same thread instead of somebody's inbox.
Every shortcut is designed to keep you in flow. No mouse needed — just type and go.

#Waiting on Client — categorize the thread
Real scenarios from CPA firms. No hypotheticals — this is what your day looks like with collaboration built in.
Client sends T2 documents via email
Client emails: "Hi, attached are the year-end financials for ABC Corp."
Type: /missing-docs @Sarah T4 slips and bank statements still missing. Please follow up. #ABC Corp #Corp T2 - Dec 2025
She sees the action item in her dashboard, contacts the client, and replies: "Got the T4s. Bank statements coming tomorrow."
Sarah marks it Done. Progress bar updates: 1/1 complete. Full audit trail preserved.
GST/HST return blocked waiting for info
Opened from the Workflow board. Q4 return for XYZ Ltd needs ITC breakdown from bookkeeper.
Type: /bookkeeping @Priya Need the Q4 ITC breakdown before I can file. #Waiting on Client
She replies in the thread: "Done — ITC summary uploaded." References: #Q4-ITC-Summary.xlsx
You click the document reference to download, complete the return, and type: /filed GST/HST submitted to CRA.

The problem with internal chat is not writing the message. It is the week afterwards, when nobody can remember who was waiting on whom. Every mention here carries a state, and that state is what drives the badge, the email and the nudge.
Mention someone and the ask lands in their "needs my reply" list, with a count in the top navigation so it is visible without opening anything. The same ask sits in your own "waiting on" list until they answer, so you never have to reconstruct who owes you what.
When they reply, the turn passes back to you automatically. If the conversation keeps going, the state keeps flipping with it, and each side sees the follow-up that re-armed it as the context line.
Asked the wrong person, or going on leave? Hand the ask to a teammate in one step. It leaves your list, arrives in theirs, and the person who asked can see where it went instead of assuming it was ignored.
Mention @all when it genuinely is everyone's, and mute or snooze a thread when it is not yours to carry, so the badge stays a real signal rather than background noise.
If a mention is still unread, it turns into an email. If it was read and still has no answer, a nudge follows. Both land you on the exact message, not the top of a thread you then have to scroll.
The mention picker writes a real person, not a piece of text that has to be guessed at later. Two staff with the same first name no longer means the wrong one gets the work.
Marking a thread done clears it from everyone's outstanding list and moves it to closed, where it stays readable. It is finished, not merely scrolled past.
Assign tasks with status tracking (Pending, In Progress, Done), priority levels, and due dates. Change the due date, the priority, the assignee or the wording in place, without reopening a form. Progress bar shows completion at a glance.
Reply to specific messages to keep conversations organized. Pin important messages for visibility. React with one tap to acknowledge without adding another message to read.
Same collaboration panel everywhere. Open it on a client email, a 1120 / T2 filing, a sales tax / GST return, or a walk-in — same shortcuts, same experience across the US and Canada.
Create your own snippets for common actions your firm takes. Share them with the team or keep them personal. Categorize as action items or messages.
Every action, message, status change, and mention is logged. PIPEDA, CCPA, and GLBA-aligned history of who did what and when — invaluable during IRS or CRA reviews.
See all your assigned action items in one place. Filter by status, priority, or client. Never lose track of what needs your attention.
